Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold has hailed his Sky Blues after a perfect week where they claimed three wins across 300 minutes of football.
The Sky Blues overcame Brisbane Roar 3-1 on Saturday night, having defeated early contenders Newcastle Jets 2-1 last round and Adelaide United 2-1 in extra-time in the FFA Cup decider in midweek.
“We imagined to win last weekend against Newcastle, to win the FFA Cup and to back that up tonight,” Arnold said.
“I continually say we’re the fittest team in the country. It’s 300 minutes this week and the boys came through very well.”
The win over Brisbane lifted Sydney back into spot, two points clear of the Jets after eight rounds.
Arnold added that his side had plenty more to give and could continue to improve.
“We’ve got a long way to go,” he said.
“Things are going well. We’ve got players who can give me a lot more.
“I expect a lot more out of everyone. I’m a bit disappointed we conceded that goal at the end.
“The boys have had a fantastic week and they’ll recover for the next two days and get ready for Friday.”
Sydney FC are away to Adelaide United on Friday night.
