St Kilda legend Nathan Burke has said that the AFL wouldn't have gone as easy on Folau as Rugby Australia following the star's twitter comments.
Folau was caught in a media storm following derogatory twitter comments he made against homosexuality, including saying that gay people would go to "hell".
The "very religious" Folau was brought in by Rugby Australia for discussions yesterday, with no formal punishments made despite Wallabies sponsor, Qantas, threatening to withdraw sponsorship from the side.
“If you think the AFL went easy on Conor McKenna with three weeks, this is a slap over the neck with a wet lettuce leaf,” Burke told Fox Sports.
“We have racial, religious vilification and homophobic vilification laws in our game and rules.
“By saying ‘if you’re gay, you’re probably going to hell’, if that doesn’t break one of those rules, I don’t know what does.”
