Reds coach Nick Stiles says former NRL and AFL star Karmichael Hunt is primed for a strong showing in Tuesday night’s trial against the Melbourne Rebels.
Hunt debuted for the Reds in 2015 but has yet to fire in Super Rugby.
Stiles believes that is set to change tonight when he runs out at fullback for the Queensland side.
He said Hunt looks to have turned a corner in what he is expecting to be his strongest season yet.
“He looks like a footballer again, rather than this hybrid AFL-rugby player,” Stiles said of Hunt after a strong Global Tens showing.
“He’s primed and ready.”
Teammate Cooper Cronk will also return tonight in his first match for the Reds since leaving the club at the end of 2015.
Stiles has instructed the flyhalf to direct play and take a leading role in the team’s attack.
The Reds finished 2016 15th of 16 teams.
