Sims has been released from his contract and agreed to terms with Brisbane overnight.

He will join his former coach Wayne Bennett on a long-term deal.

Sims’, who is currently on $400,000 at the Knights, has agreed to a significant pay cut in 2017 in exchange for a longer term deal in the Queensland capital.

“The club carefully considered the request and following further discussions with Korbin and his management have decided to grant his release,” Knights CEO Matt Gidley said.

“We thank Korbin for his contribution to the club and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”

Sims' departure leaves a massive hole in the already slim Knights pack.

Not that Gidley is worried.

“The club is in a very strong position to enter the player market and improve our squad for 2017 and beyond,” Gidley said.
