The Sydney Roosters utility will link up with Newcastle on a three-year deal from 2018 onwards, it was confirmed on Monday.

Watson, 21, made his NRL debut last year, and has since gone on to make 30 appearances in the competition.

He is highly-rated as one of the NRL's best young talents, and his signing is a big coup for the Knights.

“Connor is an exciting young talent who has plenty of great football ahead of him,” said Knights CEO Matt Gidley.

“There is no doubt Connor will grow with our team and be a great addition to the club.”

Watson will join Kalyn Ponga, Tautau Moga and Aidan Guerra as new signings for the Knights in 2018.

“It has been pleasing to announce a number of signings for next season, as we continue to build our squad with a mix of local juniors, emerging talent and experience,” Gidley concluded.
