All the shots from last weekend's Billy Jam
The annual ESS Billy Jam, held at the ESS flagship store in Erina, took place on last weekend under beautiful clear skies and warm weather.
The rail jam, which has long been the unofficial kick-off for the winter season, saw Australia’s best pros and up-and-coming amateurs go at it on the flat-down rail setup.
The amateur division was taken out by Ryan ‘Hollywood’ Garner with Corey Dawson 2nd and Dave Behrens 3rd. Garner’s consistency stood out as he landed trick after trick, with Dawson the standout in the style department. Big Dave Behrens couldn’t be missed, however, as he went BIG, hit after hit and had the crowd support behind him.
These three joined the Pro division in the showpiece event and the class was evident from the warm-ups. Veteran of the Jam Pete Long set the early pace with a number of signature tricks, as well as tweaking a hand plant on the quarter pipe at the bottom of the setup.
Serial rail jam contender, and previous winner, Jye Kearney was at his usual best and last years winner Joel Cantle also stood out with numerous combinations on and off, including the much maligned “Ham and Cheese” which really got the crowd going.
But the Jam belonged to Sam “Red Dog” Neumann who stunned the crowd with his combinations and with a much-improved style, was the clear winner.
Big thanks to ESS Boardstore for putting on another great event. Hope to see you all next year!
