Gelling left Wigan in Super League to be closer to his partner in the Shakey Isles.

The 27-year-old played Under-20s for the Roosters but was sacked by the club in 2010 because of an off-field incident.

Gelling, a Cook Islands international, played for Wigan for six seasons where he scored 52 tries in 114 appearances.

Inside Sport understands the outside back is likely to join the Warriors, with the club believed to be keen on Gelling.

He is expected to be offered a one-year deal.

The Warriors have made a number of signings for 2018 in Tohu Harris, Gerard Beale, Leivaha Pulu, Manaia Cherrington, Adam Blair, Peta Hiku, Matiu Love-Henry and Blake Green.
