A hamstring injury could mean Ryan Hoffman has played the last game of his NRL career.
Hoffman picked up the serious injury in the Melbourne Storm's 17-14 loss to Cronulla.
With the 34-year-old forward to retire at the end of the 2018 season, he faces a race to get back on the field in the next six weeks.
Storm coach Craig Bellamy admitted he doubts Hoffman will play again.
"We're all concerned, he's in tears in the dressing room," Bellamy said.
"He has been a wonderful player for our club, I'm not too sure he will play again, to be quite honest. They're thinking it's a really major injury.
"I know he will do everything he can to get back again this year and not have to retire on this note.
"They want to let it settle down tomorrow but Tuesday or Wednesday they will scan it and just see exactly what the problem is. I just hope he can get back before the end of the season."
