Luke Keary will partner Daly Cherry-Evans in the halves for Australia in a new-look Kangaroos side.
Without veterans such as Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk and Billy Slater, James Tedesco will make his debut at fullback and Damien Cook at hooker.
Boyd Cordner will captain the Kangaroos for the first time in Greg Inglis' absence, with Tom Trbojevic taking Inglis' place in the centres.
Keary takes Cameron Munster's spot at five-eighth with the Melbourne Storm star withdrawing for personal reasons.
Latrell Mitchell will also make his debut in the centres, while Ben Hunt has been selected as the bench utility.
Australia takes on New Zealand at Mt Smart Stadium this Saturday.
