Bateman starred for England at the World Cup and won the 2016 Super League grand final with Wigan.

According to The Sun, Newcastle, Brisbane and Canberra are all keen on the 24-year-old.

Bateman came through the ranks at Bradford, the same club that produced NRL stars Sam Burgess and Elliot Whitehead.

The Raiders and Broncos both already have Englishmen in their squads, in Whitehead and Josh Hodgson, and Andre Savelio, while last year the Knights signed Yorkshireman Joe Wardle.

Bateman has a clause allowing him to make a move down under next year.

After debuting in Super League in 2013, the back-rower has scored 40 tries in 138 games.

He has also played 12 Tests for England.
