Collingwood has confirmed small forward Alex Fasolo will take time out from the game due to mental health.
Fasolo, who turns 25 next week, has been ruled out of the Magpies’ match against Fremantle at Domain Stadium on Sunday.
Collingwood are hopeful the East Fremantle product will make return to football soon.
“Alex Fasolo will take what is expected to be a short break from playing as he manages the challenge of depression,” the club statement read,
“He will continue to train and prepare for football with the expectation of a swift return to playing.”
Fasolo has played all 10 of Collingwood’s games this season and scored 14 goals.
Collingwood are due to play Melbourne at the MCG on the Queen’s Birthday Monday following the Fremantle game before they have the bye.
The Fasolo news comes in light of Greater Western Sydney ruckman Tom Downie retiring from the game last week due to mental health issues.
