Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes scored a relatively untroubled victory in the Sandown 500 in their Red Bull Holden Racing Team Commodore. The Holden team had looked set for a one-two until the sister car of Shane van Gisbergen and Garth Tander suffered a rear suspension failure not far from the finish. The win for Whincup and Lowndes also secured them the Pirtek Enduro Cup title.
