Collingwood champion Dane Swan is expected to announce his retirement from his glittering 258-game career at the Magpies on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old will leave with a premiership, Brownlow Medal, three best and fairest awards and five All Australian selections to his name.
After suffering a broken foot in round one against the Sydney Swans, he decided he would not be able to make a successful return in 2017.
He began to inform key people at the football club of his decision last week before spending last weekend in Sydney.
Sources confirmed the club had a media conference at the Holden Centre planned on Tuesday afternoon.
