Nine debutantes were named in the AFL All Australian Team in one of the most hotly contested selection process in recent years.

Geelong Cats captain Joel Selwood was named as All Australian captain for the third season, having previously being given the honour in 2013 and 2014, while the Adelaide Crows’ Rory Sloane was named as his vice-captain.
