Australia has claimed a nail-biting win at the Gabba with Pakistan falling 39 runs short of victory.
Asad Shafiq and Yasir Shah combined strongly throughout the first hour before Shafiq was dismissed by Starc for 137.
Shah was run-out by Steve Smith for 33.
Pakistan needed a record 490 runs to win.
The vistors resumed at 8-382, requiring a further 108 runs to win with two wickets in hand.
