Ben Barba is a chance of featuring at this month’s Brisbane Tens rugby competition.
French rugby club Toulon, who confirmed Barba’s signing on Tuesday night, will play at the tournament.
Barba has the attributes to shine in the 10-a-side format with Duco Events Australia chief executive Rachael Carroll stating she would love to see the fullback in the Brisbane capital.
“Following the breaking news of Ben Barba going to Toulon we overnight extended a formal invitation to Toulon to invite him to play as part of their squad in the Brisbane Global Rugby Tens next week,” Carroll told foxsports.com.au.
“The Brisbane Tens will be the first time Toulon has ever played in Australia, and the fast paced 10 a side format would make for a brilliant transition for Ben Barba from NRL to rugby.
“Whilst Ben Barba is not currently listed in the Toulon squad the door is certainly open for him and we think the fans would love it.”
Barba’s contract with Cronulla is yet to be signed off by the NRL prompting Barba’s move to Europe.
With four kids and mortgages on three properties, Barba admitted he needs cash.
