The fullback is currently in Thailand at a health facility following his second positive test to cocaine after being granted a release from Cronulla.

He was hit with a 12-game NRL ban but could play in the Super League as the Australian governing body has no authority in the UK.

Barba’s manager Chris Orr said all options would be considered.

“It’s certainly something we will look at when he is out of recovery,” Orr told totalrl.com.

“We’ll play it by ear and see the cards that are dealt at the end of this. We’ll reassess him when he comes back.

“ … We’re just letting him do his business, come back and we’ll have a sit-down and have an assessment of where he is at and then do some planning of where his next step will be.”

The Sharks are expected to offer him a reduced deal when his ban ends.
