Brisbane’s preparations for Friday night’s sudden death semi-final against the Cowboys hit boiling point after teammates Josh McGuire and Salesi Funaki came to blows at training on Tuesday.
The pair had to be dragged from each other by teammates after McGuire put a big hit on Funaki during an opposed training drill.
Funaki has spent most of the year in the Queensland Cup for Wynnum- Manly but took exception to the Maroons hardman’s perceived roughness.
Broncos forward Matt Gillett said the pair had since sorted out the issue.
“I turned my back on that and just walked away,” he said.
“Things do get heated at training, that’s what it’s all about.
“They’re all good now.
“That’s the way Moosey (McGuire) plays, he trains the way he plays.
“It does get a bit firey out there and people react different.”
The Broncos are sweating on the availability of star centre James Roberts who will face the judiciary on Wednesday night after being sighted for kicking Titans player Ryan Simpkins in the back during Friday night’s win over the Gold Coast.
If found guilty, he will miss the grand final re-match against the Cowboys.
