Broncos star Matt Gillett has been ruled out of Thursday night’s all-important clash with the Roosters in Sydney.
The Queensland back-rower has failed to overcome a shoulder injury he suffered on July 1.
It is a cruel blow for the sixth-placed Brisbane club who are in danger of falling short of the top four.
Gillett’s absence adds to the struggling club’s woes with representative forwards Sam Thaiday and Josh McGuire also unavailable due to suspension.
Jaydn Su’A has been called into the 17 to replace Gillett.
Touted as likely title contenders at the start of the season, the Broncos have leaked 89 points in their past three games.
