Speaking to Adelaide radio station 5AA after the news broke, Sayers seemed confused and disaparaged by Cricket Australia's decision.

"I'm just disappointed and just want some clarity," he said.

"I'd like to know where I stand in Cricket Australia's eyes and where I can get in their side. It's quite hard to take at the moment.

"I haven't had a phone call to actually find out why I was left out."

30-year-old Sayers was also competing with Jackson Bird for the back-up position, but neither of them were chosen over out-and-out quick Jhye Richardson.
