Michael Clarke says he could have “got more” out of his team while captain.
The former Australian captain has copped it from former team mates including Mitchell Johnson, Brett Geeves, Shane Watson and Simon Katich following the release of his book, My Story.
Johnson has described relations among the team under Clarke’s watch as “toxic” while Geeves says he was totally ignored by Clarke while in the company of Lara Bingle after he was called-up to tour South Africa.
And it seems Clarke is aware he could have done things better after admitting as much on Nova 100.
“There were things that I did throughout my career that I should have done better, should have handled situations better, I could have spoken to people better. I could have got more out of my teammates,” he said.
“So I just hope that the players or the people that are involved (in my book) or that I speak about, that if they read the page before or the page after, that will put some context around it so they’ll understand a lot more, but again, let me make clear, that I think I’ve been very self-critical.”
