Cousins faced court today after being charged with stalking, driving and drug offences.

The magistrate refused a request for a suspended sentence with the Brownlow Medallist to stay in jail.

He was fined $2400.

Cousins' lawyer last week attempted to have him placed in a six-month rehab program which was refused.

The former West Coast and Richmond star's phone was tapped during his time in jail over the past five weeks as he awaited sentencing, revealing discussions with his father in which he said: "Let's dress it up as rehab."

“I have a bit of gear and it makes me feel normal,” Cousins said.

“I'm not going to stop. I don't want to stop.”

More details to come.
