NRL star Cooper Cronk has signed a new two-year deal with Melbourne worth $1.7 million.
Cronk, who turns 33 in December, will finish his career as a one club player alongside fellow Storm stars Cam Smith and Billy Slater.
The Queensland No.7 finalised the deal Friday morning following months of intense negotiating.
It was speculated Cronk would sign a lucrative deal with a Sydney club, but the half, who debuted with the Storm in 2004, decided to stay for $850,000 a season.
Melbourne CEO Dave Donaghy said Cronk was an integral part of the club and was an example of everything the Storm stood for.
“Cooper is one of the very elite players of our game and to have himself, Cameron Smith and Billy Slater finish their careers as one-club players with Melbourne Storm is a testament to the contributions these players have made to building this club,” he said.
“Cooper is a Melbourne Storm person through and through, he cares deeply about what the club stands for and makes sure the playing group lives our values on a daily basis.
“We are delighted our members will be able to see a player of Cooper’s calibre play out the remainder of his career at AAMI Park.”
Cronk has played 293 games for the club.
