Lewis was sensational in Friday night’s 32-20 preliminary final win over the Cowboys as his side totally outclassed the reigning premier.

And he knows how to win the big dance having been instrumental in Penrith's 2003 premiership.

Cronulla has played in three grand finals (1973, 1978, 1997) to no avail, but on the back of Friday’s performance the boys from The Shire are primed to claim a maiden premiership after 50 years of misery.

And in spite of the buzz surrounding Cronulla’s quest for grand final glory, Lewis said there had been no discussion between the players to break the half century drought.

“No not for me, not for any of the boys,” he said.

“I don’t think we have really thought about it too much

“We are just excited about the year that we’ve had.

“It’s been a great season and we have done a lot of things we never really expected to achieve.”

Bookmakers have installed the Storm as favourites despite their lack of dominance in Saturday night’s 14-12 win over the Raiders.
