A Perth father has dressed his son as Ben Cousins and put white powder on his nose in an attempt to make the community "lighten up" following the recent Nic Naitanui blackface scandal.

The dad’s post on social media has recieved more than 18,000 likes which is in stark contrast to the scathing response a Perth mother received for painting her son’s skin black to look like his West Coast Eagles hero Naitanui.
The father was critical of the public for its treatment of the little Nic Nat boy who was too upset to go to school following the backlash.

"To put all the butt hurt people at ease - (my son) had no idea why he had flour on his nose and I told him to act silly and I got the pic," the father posted.
"It's a pi** take because of the Nic Nat issue - lighten up."
And he is not the only parent taking to social media to defend the mother with another parent sharing a photo of her child with a "white face".
"Not once did anyone say anything when I painted my black daughter white three years ago," the mother posted online.
"We need to stop the double standards, a hero is a hero!

"I feel proud as a black woman that this little boy and his mum felt proud to colour himself black, and that being black is actually cool."
The mother's post has been shared 7000 times across social media and has more than 18,000 likes.
Cousins' battle with drug use has been widely reported, with the Brownlow Medallist entering rehab several times.
