He hasn’t played in the NRL since July but Robbie Farah will be among the game’s highest earners in 2017.
The Tigers officially released the incumbent NSW hooker on Saturday evening and are expected to pay $750,000 of his salary in 2017, the last year of his contract.
With an announcement of his signing with South Sydney expected as early as this week, the Rabbitohs are getting the 2005 premiership winner at a bargain price.
Farah was on $950,000 at the Tigers.
Souths are expected to top up the remaining $450,000, making his 2017 earnings about $1.2 million.
The Rabbitohs are expected to confirm Farah’s two-year deal in the coming days.
