Jaeger O’Meara has nominated Hawthorn as his preferred destination in the upcoming AFL trade period.
It is understood the gun midfielder informed the Gold Coast of his intentions this morning.
The highly rated youngster has not played a match in the past two seasons due to chronic knee injuries.
Essendon are also believed to be a chance to snare his services.
Hawthorn recruiting and list manager Graham Wright said the club would do all it could to bring O’Mearer to the reigning premier.
“Jaeger has indicated he wants to be at Hawthorn in 2017 and we are keen to make this happen,” he said.
“We fully respect that Jaeger is a Gold Coast player and we will work closely with the Suns in the lead up to the trade period to ensure we can get an appropriate deal done.”
