Adelaide will receive two first-round draft picks in exchange for defender Jake Lever after a trade deal was struck with Melbourne on Thursday morning at Etihad Stadium.

The Crows have acquired Melbourne’s 2017 first-round draft pick (currently pick No.10), a future first-round pick and a future fourth-round pick.

In exchange Adelaide will send Jake Lever, a second-round pick (currently pick No.35) and a future third-round selection.

Lever has come under heavy criticism for wanting out of Adelaide and was reportedly told not to attend the club's best and fairest awards following their grand final loss to Richmond.

Crows list management Justin Reid said he was pleased with the outcome of the trade.

“As soon as Jake requested a trade we were always looking to achieve the best possible deal and by bringing in two first-round picks we’ve got our desired result,” Reid said.

“First-round selections are highly sought after so to receive two as part of this trade is a great outcome for us.

“We initially selected Jake with pick No. 14 in the 2014 National Draft and to receive this year’s pick No.10 as well as a future first-round pick is a credit to the development program at our club.”
