New South Wales’ only series victory since 2006 came in 2014, a deplorable record illustrating Queensland’s outright dominance.

But with key personnel on the sidelines including Greg Inglis, Matt Scott, Johnathan Thurston and the omission of the great Billy Slater, New South Wales can smell blood in the water.

Boasting arguably their best side in more than a decade, New South Wales players are deservedly confident the Origin tide is turning.

And with a losing record that makes them the butt of many a Origin joke, Maloney has had enough.

“You get to this arena and it’s not acceptable not to perform and the playing group understand that,” Maloney said ahead of Game One at Suncorp Stadium.

“There has been a lot of years now when we haven’t got the result and you can’t keep accepting that.

“There needs to be a point where you say enough is enough.

“We need to perform and the boys know that and I think we have got the right mix of players to do that.”
