Kangaroos star James Maloney has walked out of Australian camp ahead of tonight’s match against France.
The Sharks playmaker was named to start at halfback but was driven home from Canberra to Sydney by a team official.
He is understood to be attending a private matter.
Cameron Munster is likely to play in the halves if Maloney fails to return for the match.
A Kangaroos spokesman told foxsports.com.au that Maloney “had left camp but has not yet been ruled out of tonight’s game.”
Maloney’s departure comes hours after reports surfaced of a possible player swap with Panthers star Matt Moylan.
The 31-year-old has reportedly been offered a three-year $2.5 million deal with Penrith.
More to come.
