Mal Meninga has named five debutants to take on Scotland in Australia’s Four Nations opener on Saturday morning (AEST).
Matt Moylan, James Maloney, Jake Friend, Justin O’Neill and Jake Trbojevic will all don the Green and Gold for the first time.
Maloney will pair with Cooper Cronk in the halves with Moylan named at fullback.
O’Neill was named at centre with Jake Trbojevic to start at lock.
“I always planned to ensure the entire 24-man squad has played across the Perth Test and the Four Nations match against Scotland and that will set us up nicely for the rest of the tournament,” Meninga said.
“I do have an idea of what my best possible squad would be but all players know they can break into the top team with a strong performance.”
Squad: Matt Moylan, Josh Mansour, Justin O’Neill, Josh Dugan, Blake Ferguson, James Maloney, Cooper Cronk, Aaron Woods, Cameron Smith, David Klemmer, Sam Thaiday, Tyson Frizell, Jake Trbojevic. Interchange: Jake Friend, Shannon Boyd, Trent Merrin, Michael Morgan. Valentine Holmes (18th man).
