Newcastle Knights' Trent Hodkinson has left the NRL club after requesting to be released from the last year of his contract.
Hodkinson played 40 games for Newcastle over two years.
The Knights' General Manager said Hodkinson was an "excellent role model".
“Trent has been an excellent role model for our young players,” General Manger Football Darren Mooney said.
“He is a well-respected teammate and contributed immensely to our community program.
“We understand Trent’s decision to leave the Club and we wish him and wife Chantelle all the best for the future.”
