The North Sydney Bears believe they have 500,000 supporters throughout NSW and Queensland as the former NRL club refines its bid to purchase the Gold Coast Titans.
The Bears infamously merged with Manly in 1999 before disbanding in 2002.
Manly re-launched as a sole operator and North Sydney were thrown on the scrapheap.
Fifteen years on and the former Sydney club believes it is in a position to purchase the Titans and make a comeback.
The Gold Coast are currently owned by the NRL after the club went into administration.
A consortium of Titans fans are hopeful of buying the club, however, the Bears believe they have the financial backing to make a play at ownership.
The Gold Coast Seagulls and Chargers both folded in the past with many experts questioning creating a successful venture on the Glitter Strip is possible.
