The Panthers have entered the race to sign Broncos halfback Ben Hunt.
The Dragons have reportedly offered the No.7 $1 million a season, but Penrith are set to dual it out for his services.
Hunt spent several years playing under Panthers coach Anthony Griffin with the pair remaining close since Griffin’s departure from Red Hill at the end of 2014.
And with a swag of talent off contract at the end of 2017, Brisbane cannot offer Hunt anywhere near that figure.
The 26-year-old’s first preference is to remain in Brisbane where he has played eight seasons since debuting in 2009.
FIRST on @7NewsQueensland - Penrith Panthers pursuing BEN HUNT with Anthony Griffin wanting him back. Penrith more likely than dragons.
