Brisbane coach Justin Leppitsch says his side are not looking at this weekend’s bottom of the table match against an undermanned Bombers outfit as critical.
The Lions suffered a record-equaling 12th-straight loss at the hands of GWS on Sunday.
They have managed just one win from 16 attempts this season with a loss to Essendon likely to signal panic stations for Leppitsch’s coaching future.
Brisbane suffered a 79-point defeat to GWS in front of just 10,195 spectators in the dismal effort, the smallest Gabba crowd in their history.
“We don’t sit around in the fetal position rocking back and forward thinking ‘oh we better win this week’. It’s not what we do,’’ Leppitsch said.
“It should be a good game, we go to win every game. It doesn’t really change.
“I know most people will put a lot of emphasis on the game. We will go down there and absorb the pressure and put in our best performance. There’s another six games after that too.
“It could be (a decisive match) but I don’t think it will be.
“I still think we’ve got some winnable games at home on the back end (of the season) as well that maybe we can take care of.’’
Vice-captain Dayne Zorko was Brisbane’s best with 28 disposals.
