Queensland and Australian representative Scott Prince has been linked to a comeback with Hull KR.
Hull has been relegated, meaning Prince, who has continued to stay fit playing touch football for Australia, would by no means need to be in peak form to be competitive in the second division.
Former Raiders half Terry Campese is set to hang up the boots following Hull’s relegation.
Prince has close links to Hull coach Tim Sheens with the pair winning the 2005 premiership at the Tigers.
The 36-year-old retired at the end of 2013 but is being strongly considered by Sheens.
Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell refused to deny Prince was on the cusp of signing with the club.
“I’m not going to comment on individual rumours,” he told the Hull Daily Mail.
“That name (Prince) has been around a few years, hasn’t it?
“But Tim has got many targets in mind, he’s a very well-connected coach. He’s been in touch with me every day, discussing different players and different options.”
