The Rabbitohs early season hopes have been dashed with halfback Adam Reynolds sidelined for up to four weeks after being diagnosed with appendicitis.
It is a massive blow to the boys from Redfern after the club failed to retain fellow premiership-winning half Luke Keary who signed with the Roosters.
Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire will name his first 21-man squad for the 2017 season next Tuesday with the vacant No.7 jersey leaving a massive hole.
Reynolds has established himself as one of Souths most valuable players, guiding them to the 2014 title and earning State of Origin honours for New South Wales.
More to come.
