At 44-years-old, the former Australian and Qld representative is expected to be a massive boost for the side and local competition.

“I saw the name and I thought surely there’s only one Robbie O’Davis around Newcastle,” NHRL administrator Dave Wild told The Newcastle Herald.

“It should boost the crowd numbers a bit,” added Gloucester secretary Kate Wratten.

O’Davis’ played between 1992 - 2004, playing 223 games for Newcastle and winning two premierships with the club in 1997 and 2001.
