Sea Eagles recruit Willis Meehan’s NRL career appears over after the highly touted talent was granted an immediate release from the club.
The 21-year-old has decided to return to boxing.
He was given a lifeline by Manly after being sacked from the Roosters in 2015.
Meehan’s management were in discussion for several weeks with Manly officials about his desire to continue boxing.
Meehan was once compared to NRL legend Sonny Bill Williams.
