The Magpies currently have the worst-ever goal per inside 50 percentage that Champion Data has ever recorded and Swan reckons the big man can change all that.

Fevola publicly announced his desire to return to the AFL last month and singled out the Pies and Eddie McGuire to help make it happen.

“I think I could play better than some of the blokes that are out there now,” Fevola said.

“I don’t get nervous. These young kids (go) out there, they get a little bit nervous.

“If there’s 60,000 people there I’ll kick six, if there’s 70,000 I’ll kick seven. If you play for a crap team and there’s 10,000 there I’ll only kick one because you want to perform for the supporters.

“I put bums on seats. Touch wood, my body is in good nick injury-wise.

“I’d kick 70 goals. I’d kick 70 goals without even training, imagine if I did train.”

And Swan agrees despite 36-year-old’s six-year absence from the AFL.

“Brendan Fevola is an answer up forward. He’s probably the wrong answer, but he’s an answer nonetheless,” Swan said in his Fox Sports column.

“At local level, Fev’s still doing what he does best: Kicking goals. And it’s something the Pies just can’t seem to do that at the moment.

“Seriously, what a story it’d be: From Carlton to Brisbane to the jungle to radio then back to the Pies. We like to give people second and third chances — Fev’s on his fourth now — but it’d be great to see Fev in black and white.

“Fev at the Pies. As they say, stranger things have happened — or have they?”
