A Sydney pub has fired its manager for an online promotion that told customers to "keep calm and slap a bitch" while watching the NRL semi-finals.
On Wednesday the manager of the Coopers Hotel in Newton launched a Facebook promotion that said: "Keep calm and slap a bitch as we approach the finals of this years NRL! Live and loud every game."
The pub has come under fire for making fun of domestic violence.
According to The Guardian, the hotel manager deleted the post on Wednesday and apologised in a post saying: "Hi all, my name is Gary Wright, I am the general manager of the Coopers Hotel and I wholly apologise for the recent post by myself on our social media platform.”
Wright has been sacked and the pub's licensees have apologised online.
Last month a study revealed that domestic violence increased 40.7% across NSW and Queensland on State of Origin game days.
