Sam Thaiday has been found guilty of contrary conduct by the NRL judiciary.
The Broncos’ second rower had been charged with a grade one offence for grabbing the thumb of Melbourne prop Jesse Bromwich.
In Sydney tonight Thaiday and the Broncos argued the move had been made in effecting a regulation tackle.
The Broncos became the first club to fight a fine at the judiciary, taking the action as a matter of principle.
The Kangaroo forward was always going to be clear to play against the Canberra Raiders at Suncorp Stadium this Friday night, regardless of the hearing’s outcome.
However Thaiday was found guilty by the panel, and accepted a $2100 fine.
The Broncos will have their final training run before the Raiders game on Thursday morning.
