Just a week left before The Mile High kicks off at Perisher, who's going to take the top spot this year?
With the southern hemisphere’s premier slopestyle event just a week away, we take a quick look at the Mens and Womens contenders for this year’s titles...
Jamie Anderson (USA)Gold Medallist from Sochi and defending champion of the Mile High, Jamie Anderson has won just about every competition she has entered for the past decade. Head and shoulders above most of the field in women’s slopestyle she will be hard to take down once again this year.
Kjersti Buaas (NOR)A veteran of the slopestyle scene Kjersti has the experience to get her over the line against her younger competitors. Still with tricks that rival the next generation she hasn’t lost any of that pop and style that has made her a top-level competitor for so many years on the comp tour.
Stale Sandbech (NOR)The Silver Medallist from Sochi in slopestyle and currently the most stylish jumper on the planet, Stale Sandbech is not only a contender but also a perennial crowd favourite. In a world of doubles and triples (both of which he has on lock) Stale’s flat spins are his trademark. A rare sight in the modern slopestyle run but with the multitude of grabs and pokes in his arsenal it’s easy to see why he’s always a fan favourite.
Max Parrot (CAN)After traveling to Australia as an unknown teenager a few years ago, Max Parrot has risen to the upper echelon of the slopestyle ranks. He’s been pushing the progression of snowboarding and recently became the first ever to perform a switch quadruple underflip. It will be interesting to see if he tries a quad down under this year.
Torstein Horgmo (NOR)One of the most internationally recognised snowboarders with his savvy internet persona, Torstein has been gracing our shores for years now. After making a name for himself in Stylewars years ago on the monstrous 135ft gap jump, Torstein has been at the forefront of progression for a long time. The pioneer of the triple cork and all-round style master, look for Torstein to make a big impression once again.
Sebastien Toutant (CAN)Another consistent visitor to our shores, this French Canadian has been killing it on all levels of snowboarding for some time. With banger street rails parts as well as slopestyle success Seb has all the bases covered. The defending champion from last years Mile High and will be hard to beat again this season with local knowledge on his side.
