Cronulla veteran Luke Lewis has agreed to a one-year contract extension keeping him at the Sharks until the end of 2017.
Off-contract at the end of this year, the 32-year-old is yet to put pen to paper but is expected to do so in the coming weeks.
The NSW and Australian representative has been integral to the Sharks’ surge up the ladder in their quest for a maiden NRL Premiership.
South Sydney was interested in the back-rower but Lewis has opted to stay in the Shire in what shapes as his 17th and final season in the NRL.
“It’s been good to get the decision out of the way,” Lewis told Fox Sports on Wednesday.
“I haven’t got anything done and dusted as of yet but I have agreed to terms and I’m looking forward to another year at the Sharks.”
