Matthew Wade is under pressure to hold his place in the Australian Test side after scoring just 21 runs from his past four appearances.
The wicketkeeper replaced Peter Nevill who responded to his snubbing with a solid 179 not out in the Sheffield Shield.
Captain Steve Smith confirmed a solid batting effort from Wade against Pakistan in the final Test starting today would benefit the gloveman's cause. Â
"For him it's just about going out and playing his natural game. When he looks to be positive, it sorts out the rest of his game," Smith said of Wade to AAP.
"It helps his defence, he'll leave well and things like that.
"So it's about just being positive and hitting the ball if it's in his area. He's naturally quite an aggressive player, so if he has that positive mindset then I think everything will take care of itself."
Nevill's form could sway selectors’ minds when they choose the side for an upcoming tour of India.
