Walters' son set to join Melbourne.
Billy Walters is set to sign with the Storm.
The son of NRL legend and Maroons coach Kevin, is expected to sign a two-year deal with the club, the Courier Mail reports.
The half has been in top form for the Easts Tigers in the Intrust Super Cup and was being looked at by the Broncos, his dad’s former club.
Storm football manager Frank Ponissi said the 23-year-old would be a solid acquisition in light of Cooper Cronk’s departure from the club.
“We’ve definitely spoken to Billy and we’re very confident that he’ll come to us next year,” Ponissi told the Courier Mail.
“…With Cooper going, he was the obvious selection.”
He is the nephew of former Maroons and Australian players Kerrod and Steve Walters.
