Now at the Eels, Moses has produced arguably the best form of his career since joining Parramatta part-way through the season.

His form was patchy to say the least during his time with Wests but Moses showed enough in his three seasons at the Tigers to earn a reported $900,000 a season contract with the Eels.

His position became untenable at Wests and he was let go by new coach Ivan Cleary as Parramatta coach Brad Arthur and management nibbled away at him in the background.

And the move has proven a masterstroke for the Eels and Moses.

He has helped them to eight wins from 10 games and into the top four where many had predicted they’d finish before the start of the season.

And Woods could not be happier for his former team mate who he played with at school.

However, Woods said at times Moses’ natural ability needed a push along.

Known for floating in and out of games at crucial moments, Woods said there were several occasion he would have to point the finger at Moses to get him into gear.

“Mitchell Moses was one of the biggest ones I used to have a crack at all the time,” he said.

“And he’d have a crack back.

“There are players you know you can get the better out of them if you do challenge them like that.”

And judging on Moses’ form, perhaps Arthur is happy barking at his prized recruit too.
