In Issue #20 of Bike we ventured to Vaud to ride through the classic alpine passes of the Swiss canton with Alain Rumpf.

Our route takes us up alpine climbs and through high passes, and down serpentine roads that go from above the treeline, through forests, along cliff tops and scything through vineyards.
“I’ve been fortunate to ride my bike in many different places around the world and they’re are all fantastic," says Rumpf." I’ve been to incredible places in China, the US, the Alps, in south Africa, and what I think is special about Switzerland is it’s the Alps. It’s the same mountain range as Austria, France, Italy, and others, but here what I really enjoy is the fact that the roads are in excellent condition, there is little traffic—significantly less traffic on Swiss roads than on other very popular destinations.”
What are the seven best rides in Switzerland?
