A special Scott Addict for Simon Yates

After last year’s success of Adam Yates at le Grand Boucle, it is his twin brother, Simon who rode into Paris in the jersey of the best young rider. Scott made him a special bike.

ORICA-SCOTT athlete Simon Yates has claimed the best young rider competition at the Tour de France. After Yates finished the time trial on Saturday in 32nd position, in the exact same time as white jersey contender Louis Meinjtes, he knew his victory was sealed.

After last year’s success of his brother Adam at le Grand Boucle, it is his twin brother, Simon who won the jersey of best young rider. They have become the first brothers to win back to back the white jersey at the biggest cycling race in the world. This unique opportunity drove Scott bikes to design him, not only a special Scott Addict, but also Scott RC Road shoes and a Scott Cadence helmet ahead of the last stage in Paris.

“It will take some time, but it is starting to sink in. I’m really happy and a little bit relieved that I have pulled it off too. I came here with the goal of winning this jersey from day one and that was no secret. For me it’s a great thing and I’m sure for the team as well. Also with my brother winning it last year it’s nice to keep it in the family, and we hope we can turn them into another colour one day."

This special edition Addict has two totally different sides. What is white on one side, for example the drivetrain side, is black on the other side and vice versa. Like this the bike looks almost identical on both side, but is actually the exact opposite. This unique design is also seen on all Syncros parts such as seat post, handle bar, stem and saddle. To fit the design of the bike, Yates will ride one black and one white Scott RC road shoe and a Scott Cadence helmet in the same design of his bike.

Specs of the Scott Addict Special Edition

The Addict RC Special edition comes equipped with an HMX Carbon Fiber frame and fork that weighs in at just 790/300g. It is the preferred climbing bike for ORICA-SCOTT. With the addition of a Shimano Dura Ace Di2 electronic drivetrain and a slew of other high-end carbon components, the RC results in one strong, light and efficient racing machine and is the bike of choice of Simon Yates.
