Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton was fastest on the final day of the opening 2018 Formula 1 pre-season test at Barcelona.
After a snow-interrupted day three of testing, it was towards the end of the fourth and final day that Hamilton ousted Stoffel Vandoorne’s McLaren from the top of the time sheets.
While Vandoorne had set his time on Pirelli’s hypersoft compound while Hamilton had used the medium tyre, the changing conditions meant that the times weren't necessarily a true reflection of pace.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel was third fastest on soft tyres; Kevin Magnussen’ Haas was fourth on the supersoft tyre.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen’s schedule was interrupted by a trip into the Turn12 gravel trap, the Dutchman ending the day ninth fastest. Team-mate Daniel Ricciardo did not test on the final day.
A four-day break follows before the teams resume for the final pre-season which starts on Tuesday.
